On the 21st of August, 2014, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) launched its first mobile application to support and assist business taxpayers. According to the Minister of National Revenue Kerry-Lynne Findlay, who introduced the app in Vancouver, “It is more about just trying to help small business focus on what their priorities are, which is their business, and not having to get all these paper reminders and be in a bit of a panic.”
Mobile Application for Canadian Business Taxpayers
This mobile application is available free of cost on Apple iOS, Google Android, and BlackBerry mobile platforms and can be downloaded from Apple, Playstore, or CRA website.
It has been developed especially for small and medium-sized businesses with annual revenues less than $20 million and fewer than 500 employees to create alerts and reminders for due dates related to tax payments, returns and remittances. After much consultation with business taxpayers, who preferred the convenient way of receiving reminders regarding their taxes via mobile rather than through e-mails.
Additionally, the new application is expected to improve and accelerate CRA’s services while at the same time reducing red tape as a part of the Government of Canada’s Red Tape Reduction Action Plan introduced in the Economic Action Plan for 2014.
That being said, CRA’s release of this business tax reminder mobile application can be considered as an example of CRA’s dedication towards improving client servicing with modern technology.
You can further ease your ways as a business taxpayer by sharing the reminder with your tax professional, who can quicken the process by taking immediate action.
